What comes to mind when you think about summer? Swimming? Summer camp? Barbecues? Music in the park? This year, why not make sharing books part of your family’s summer fun?
Summer reading and book discussions help your student maintain reading skills, improve reading fluency, and learn new vocabulary and concepts. Most importantly, encouraging children to read helps to develop a love of books and reading that lasts a lifetime.
Middle school students have required reading and book lists, by grade (see below), to choose from, but we encourage all our students to get lost in a good book or two over the summer.
