Mrs. Victoria Rutkowski, 4-8
Mrs. Rutkowski was born and raised in the
Raleigh area. She is a graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, North
Carolina, where she earned a BA degree in Hispanic Studies. Mrs. Rutkowski also
attended both Sacred Heart Cathedral School and Cardinal Gibbons High School in
Raleigh, North Carolina, and is very happy to be a part of the Catholic school
system again.
Mrs. Rutkowski was also very fortunate to have the
opportunity of spending six months studying abroad in Quito, Ecuador, where she
attended the Universidad San Fransisco de Quito. In Quito she learned the
conversational and cultural aspects of the Latin American culture while living
and interacting on an everyday basis with a local family.
Her interests include traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
She currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband, Richard, and
their daughter, Claudia.
Ms. Joann Hoye, K-3
Mrs. Hoye,
originally from Nashville, Tennessee, did her undergraduate
studies at Vanderbilt University, where she double majored in
Spanish language and English literature. From there, she came to
North Carolina, and received a Master's degree in Comparative
Literature (Spanish and English) at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lived in Spain two different times,
for one semester during her junior year of college and for a
year during graduate school. Her teaching experience includes
teaching English at the high school level and teaching Spanish
at both the college and high school levels, including four years
at Cardinal Gibbons High School here in Raleigh. In addition to
teaching K-3 Spanish here at Lourdes, she teaches Spanish to
grades 1-6 in a local, Catholic, home school program; to
four-and five-year olds at St. Philip's Lutheran Preschool; and
occasionally to college students at Durham Technical Community
College. She also works with students of all ages as an
independent Spanish tutor.
Mrs. Hoye lives in Raleigh with her husband, and she enjoys
cooking, singing, hiking, birding, and spending time with family
and friends.
