Ms. Sarah Almon
Miss
Almon was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended
Catholic elementary and high school. She graduated from Loyola University
in New Orleans with a BS degree in elementary education and taught in the
Louisiana public school system for four years before moving to Raleigh in 1972.
Starting her thirty-sixth year here at Lourdes, Ms.
Almon currently holds a North Carolina teaching license in middle school
Math.
She teaches seventh and eighth grade pre-algebra as well as eighth
grade Religion. A real joy for her these days is teaching former students’
children! Ms. Almon also
coaches the girls’ varsity basketball team.
An avid sports fan, her most favorite teams are Georgia Tech and the Atlanta
Braves. She stays active and regularly walks, runs,
bikes, and swims. Her proudest accomplishments are qualifying for and running
the Boston Marathon in 2002.
Mr.
Alan Johnston
Mr. Johnston is in his tenth year of
teaching, and his fifth here at Lourdes. He is originally from
Cincinnati, Ohio, but he has spent two years living and teaching in Guam.
Mr. Johnston is certified to teach science for middle school and high school.
He has a BS in Biology and a master's in Secondary Education. His
favorite subject is Astronomy, and he enjoys taking his telescope out to show his
students and their families the universe. Mr. Johnston loves teaching, and he
wants that to come across to his students.
